And under the linoleum, we have painted wood. We�ll see if it can be refinished. (I love wood floors.) J
 

In the living room and dining room, under the carpet and padding was linoleum. I know probably some of you would like to have this for your own homes, but alas, my Dad already has dibs.
 

So if you wondered what 3 rooms of old wallpaper (1st layer) looks like...here you go... 

So when I pulled down the drop ceiling in the kitchen (#2), you can see...well...you see. Eek. Another ceiling is in order. 

Sometimes we like to put wallpaper over some paint, and the paint on top of other wallpaper. Please take note of the improvement of wallpaper choices. 

Hhhmmmm...this seems to be where we keep some of the pipes. Please note, that the prior occupant thought the best way to get to said pipes was to put his or her foot through the wall. Well done.  

Animal groups

I got a call from my dear friend MK this weekend, closing the loop on a very important question that surfaced during the Road Trip: what is a group of deer called? Well if you didn't know (and we didn't, but speculated much) it's a herd.

So for those of you that enjoy interesting tidbits:

alligator > congregation or pod (if it's little guys)
bat > colony
beaver > colony
butterfly > swarm
camel > flock
cat > clutter, clowder (what?) and the female is called the queen
cattle > herd or drift or drove or mob, but apparently you can't say "cow herd" (as the female is the cow)
crow > murder or muster
deer are a herd or a mob (who doesn't love the mob)
elephant > herd or parade
falcon > cast
ferrett > business
flog > army or knot
gerbil > horde (oh yea, here comes that horde of gerbil...oh my)
goat > herd or ribe or trip
geese > glock or gaggle (I love gaggle)
gorilla > band
guinea pig > group
hampster > also horde (as the horde of hampster go up against the horde of gerbil)
hippopotamus > herd or bloat (how insulting, bloat)
lion > pride
llama > herd
mole > labor (we have lots of moles around here, pushing up the yard all over the place)
otter > family or raft or romp (ha..romp..funny)
owl > parliament
prarie dog > coterie or town
racoon > nursery or gaze
rhinoceros > crash (well that is fitting isn't it)

tiger > ambush or streak (also fitting I think)

Balance

So finding a balance right now is kind of tough. So much to do on the house and so, SO much to learn. Balancing that with a full-time job and all the other stuff...wow. This is good right, it builds character or something of the like.

In unit #2 there is a super-ugly drop ceiling. Originally I pushed up a couple of the tiles and saw that the ceiling was peeling some. However, yesterday, when I removed the rest of them, I found that some $%^#& had overflowed the upstairs bathtub and 1/4 of the ceiling is gone. What a bummer.... 

So, I'm in unit #1 and spent over an hour pulling all of the nails, screws, hooks and random wires out of the walls. This 1/2 cup is just from that one room. Fred, the old guy that owned the place forever, really liked to stick things in the wall. Jerome doesn't know what to do with it....

Unit #3, 2nd bedroom. Small room, also with it' very own linoleum. The newspapers under the linoleum are from 1953. (The funny papers.) 

Unit #3, 1st bedroom. Note: the tub will not be kept in the bedroom. The stuff you see on the floor is linoleum, fancy huh? 

Living room unit #3. Will become a bedroom. Check out the fancy linoleum and the hole in the floor. Nice.
 

Unit #3. Kitchen in progress. Progress will be stopped as I make this into something else, expand the closet, or bathroom, perhaps a laundry room. The wallpaper was kept or put up new during the re-model. (Really??)

Unit #2. Check out the old counter and stove. A galley kitchen, but who cares, I hardly cook... 

Bathroom in unit #2. Yes the house has a boiler and those radiators really do work.

The front door, leads to the hallway shared by all of the units. The door WILL be beautiful, when I get a chance to refinish it. 

Living room #1. The walls aren't as bad as the dining room.... 

Dining room #1. Oh wow...nice wallpaper here too. (The house is covered with it.) 

Bath #1. Possibly the ugliest bathroom in the entire world. however, i think there is an old claw foot tub under the mess. 

But this is the beautiful ceiling in kitchen #1. Love it! 

Wow...this is the kitchen in unit #1. There are 3 units, but I am going to take unit #2 & #3 for my living space. 

The 2nd floor of the garage. You can see the chains holding up the sides of the roof, as the roof was pulling the building apart. Eek.
